Only a few Republicans. I'm surprised there are that many.

Lets hope that its a good sign that more Republicans are placing a higher priority on environmental issues than they've typically been known to do. Having real proponents on both sides can only help the cause.

Steve,

I look at how we treat the evironment in the same way as how we treat children or the elderly. In a way, we are stewards. How good of a job we do or don't do tells us a lot about us as a society and our politicians as individuals.

The Sierra Club, Georgia Conservancy, and the dozens of local or satellite groups that keep up with the differences between what our politicians say and actually do on environmental issues is a great service to us. And as their bipartisan endorsements suggest, they're not in it for the politics. I think their rating of Cagle's record indiciates where his priorities are.

Even though an endorsement from one of these groups won't win elections, I think it says a lot about the people in question. That's way I give a lot of respect to their opinions.

Just my two cents. If health issues are important to you then environmental issues should be important to you also, because they are linked.

The air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink affects our health and the environment affects each of those things. The state of the environment affects the physical and psychological health of everybody, not just a few people.
