Even when her mullet became really short in 1986 which gave her a Peter Pan look. ;-)

But, man, could she hit a string of winners? I'll never forget the Wimbledon semi where she won 14 points in a row from Chris, mostly on pure winners. The Brits dubbed it "the purple patch."Button Gwinnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03435875008430423570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-86673937292155727642007-10-22T19:35:00.000-04:002007-10-22T19:35:00.000-04:00I'm with you on your Mandlikova preference, in fas...I'm with you on your Mandlikova preference, in fashion as well as game. Could she play or what? Sadly, my short-lived mullet did not help my game that much. Who knows?

I guess I'll always prefer Mandlikova with long hair, head band, and dressed in pastel Ellesse clothes. But I have to admit, she did win the US Open in 1985 right after she went to the mullet!

Makes you wonder.....Button Gwinnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03435875008430423570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-15026962056473747552007-10-22T06:26:00.000-04:002007-10-22T06:26:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Button Gwinnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03435875008430423570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-71179776308726959892007-10-17T13:47:00.000-04:002007-10-17T13:47:00.000-04:00I had forgotten/blocked out the Evert mullet. And I had never put together the confluence of her hair and her (then) new-found power attitude towards the game. Did the mullet drive her forward, or did her new strength make the mullet necessary. These are questions that need not be answered. Which is why we have blogs. And Mandlikova was fantastic. If a bit flaky.David Webbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05891790923170327958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-16998836317785053382007-10-16T09:51:00.000-04:002007-10-16T09:51:00.000-04:00Great post!Great post!Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07155999413862242756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-70015666798561176142007-10-15T22:29:00.000-04:002007-10-15T22:29:00.000-04:00Haven't seen a mullet in years, but it was once th...Haven't seen a mullet in years, but it was once the wave.Larryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05283557503536810926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084074.post-28351057006844255072007-10-15T05:30:00.000-04:002007-10-15T05:30:00.000-04:00I only had one for a very brief period of time, th...I only had one for a very brief period of time, thank God.
